Think I am just thinking.

Words are but thoughts made visible.

Groundhog Day and once again the results are the same.

Yes it was Groundhog Day, and Phil saw his shadow.

So, we are supposed to have six more weeks of winter.  But, had Phil not seen his shadow it would only have been six more weeks until spring.  Now is it just me or we really talking about the same thing here?  Last time I checked, six weeks was six weeks. so no matter what the little rodent sees or does not see.  Sorry, should not have referred to Punxsutawney Phil as a rodent, even though groundhogs are a member of the rodent family.  So, anyway, regardless of Phil, we still have to wait six weeks until Spring get’s here.  Also in the interim, it’s always going to be Winter right up until spring gets her.

But on a good note.  We will have up to six weeks of the possibility of being able to sled and go sking.  If you live up north, you may even have more time to ride that snowmobile.  And, each of us will once again be able to count on warmer weather arriving in about six weeks with the new growth which will follow.

So, I guess it really does not mater what Phil sees or does not see.  Each of us can either wait miserably for spring, or enjoy each day of winter that remains.

I think I will chose to enjoy each day, as it’s really much more fun.

Tis the Season, now it’s over.

Well we made it through the holidays. My cold has finally left and I am feeling totally human again. I’m not sure if I received the gifts I wanted, as I wasn’t sure what gifts I wanted in the first place. It was truly more fun watching the grandchild and the rest of the family open their presents over the Christmas holiday.

New years was somewhat anti climatic in that I managed to stay up until midnight, hear the neighbors set off a few fireworks and crawl into bed to start off the new year in my own personal dream world. What could be better than that? Too bad I woke up and could not remember a single dream!

Of course having New Years Day off provided a very nice simi-midweek days rest in what would have normally been a fully loaded 50 hours of work or more.

Anyway, Happy New Year 2009. May you be better than the year before.

I am missing Washington.

It’s been a long week and it’s not even over yet.  Looking over the pictures from our Washington trip, reminds me just how much fun we had, and how much I miss Washington.   Then again, after a long drawn out week at work;  I miss Yellowstone, the Grand Canyon, Arches, Mesa Verde, Pikes Peak, Dinosaur National Park, Badlands, Wind and Jewel Caves, Mount Rushmore, Mount Baker, Olympic National Park, The Hoh, Rocky Mountain National Park, Longs Peak, Flat Top Mountain, and a host of other national treasures yet to be visited.  It is these visits which recharges my spirit with energy to gain the inner peace which helps me appreciate each day of good health I am fortunate enough to experience.   I wish all how stumble across this page good health and the ability to see what is good in your life and the ability to tolerate that which is not.

   Tomorrows already looking brighter.

Plugging the holes in the ‘Bat Cave’.

Well, here we are in day 3 and things are beginning to look like we might just end up having a home with openings that are as good looking as what can be seen through them.  I must admit, the thought crossed my mind at one point that went something like, “I wonder if I could install windows myself?”   All I can say about that was; it was a moment of insanity which quickly passed.

New Living Room window almost complete.

New Windows for the Entry

Tomorrow all the trimming work gets completed!  How exciting!  Well considering we could have gone on a tour of Europe for less than the cost of all these windows and doors, we feel a strong need to at least encourage each other to feel excited.  If it wasn’t for the need of a place to live, a person really could do a lot more traveling.  Of course then you still have the problem of were do you live after you leave work each day?  So for now, we will treat this a just another of those required living expenses that a person just has to put up with.

Back to the Olympics. No more about fencing. How about Fencing?

Well, enough about the back yard and fence work.  This week is for the Olympics.  Like a few (Million) other people around the world, my family were also tuning in to see just how well the U.S.A. teams faired against the world.  Had the chance to watch the China verses the USA in basketball.  Though the first half was somewhat closer, by the forth quarter the writing was already on the wall as to who the winner would be.  Regardless, it was a fun game to watch.  I thought the USA Team was playing much more like a true team and not just a bunch of big name stars who happen to be out on the basketball court at the same time.

A large portion of the hype has been about swimming and Micheal Phelps, or so it seems.    Of course there have been a number of Olympic Champions to emerge from the games.  Check out Fencing for interested.  I know you thought I was done with all the fencing references, but in all seriousness, check out the results of the Women’s Fencing event, if you’re not already aware of the results.

In Olympic Fencing, they swing long sordes at each other.

In back yeard fencing, you swing a hammer.

But in both, you must hit your target in order to win.  Accordingly, I should be receiving my Metal any day now!
